Use official sources for orientation, not shortcuts
The BMG health-insurance overview is the first official topic frame. Use Make it in Germany for newcomer orientation and GKV-Spitzenverband for statutory-insurance structure, then check your situation with the current organization or process that owns your route.
- Employment: ask whether your employer path points to statutory insurance, private-insurance eligibility, payroll handling, or another official route before treating any checklist as complete.
- Study: check university and insurer requirements separately; the school enrollment question and the insurance eligibility question are not the same thing.
- Self-employment or freelance work can make the public/private question more case-specific. Verify acceptance, proof, timing, and visa relevance with current official and insurer sources.
- Local care access and appointment questions are provider questions, not city-guide promises.
